An outdoor kitchen that truly stands out: the Monza for Lusso Outdoor is more than just a kitchen—it’s a high-end outdoor experience. Sleek, modular, and made entirely of aluminum for maximum durability and minimal weight. Designing this kitchen presented several technical challenges, but thanks to smart innovations, we created a robust and elegant design that can withstand impacts (and a heavy rainstorm), winner of the prestigious 2025 iF Design Award.

The design focused on modularity and ease of use. With just a few smart components, we created three different modules; a drawer module, a cabinet door module, and a Kamado module, available in three widths: 60, 90, and 120 cm. Thanks to a modular system, these can be easily mounted onto the supporting frame. Rainwater? No problem. The worktop directs water neatly through the fronts, keeping the cabinet spaces and drawers dry. The frame is more than just a sturdy foundation; the aluminum extrusion profile includes smart integrations such as slots for sliding nuts, a groove for LED lighting, and adjustable feet to ensure the kitchen is always level, even after installation!
A revolutionary design is nothing without flawless execution. The first prototypes were manufactured in collaboration with a local production partner, where we rigorously tested manufacturability and tolerances. Since the final profiles could not yet be extruded, we translated the designs into sheet metal. This presented an additional challenge: aluminum sheet metal warps during welding, causing headaches, especially for the cabinet fronts. The solution? Milling stress-free aluminum. This gave us the sleek, perfectly straight finish that matches the luxurious look of Lusso Outdoor.
A great design is not just beautiful but also efficient to produce. We are currently developing an extrusion profile for the frame to eliminate labor-intensive welding and the installation of press-fit nuts. This will significantly reduce production costs while also shortening the kitchen’s assembly time. In the future, the internal construction profiles of the modules will also be made from extruded aluminum, further enhancing efficiency and streamlining production.
The Monza outdoor kitchen is built locally in the Netherlands to last a lifetime, even in the most challenging environments. With a multi-layer powder coating, including an extra layer for coastal kitchens, it is designed to withstand the elements.
