Appliance design
Kitchenware and home appliances are all designed to perform a specific function, be it chopping vegetables or washing clothes. However, they also need to be aesthetically pleasing, efficient, and made with ergonomics in mind. This is where ManGo’s industrial design experts come in. Our team conducts extensive research on the sort of home appliance design that people would like in their homes, fitting to their interior design, as well as ensuring it provides the desired functionality.

Working mechanisms
When it comes to the engineering of kitchen appliances, there’s no shortage of complexity. Everything from refrigerators to ovens and coffee makers requires precise calibration of internal mechanisms to ensure that they work correctly and efficiently. A good appliance or kitchenware design will also factor in the environment where the product is used, and any associated risks. For appliances, this also entails electronics and involves an understanding of wiring diagrams, circuit board layouts, sensors, actuators and their associated safety standards and regulations. One of the services offered by ManGo is the development of safe and effective working mechanisms for your appliance design.
Components
In most projects sourcing the correct off-the-shelf components for your home appliance design is a crucial. Components such as power cords, motors and sensors need to be high-quality, durable, certified and interchangeable. Such parts allow for faster product development timelines and cost-effective manufacturing. In product design it is always wise to utilize what is available and only create something from scratch if no suitable off-the-shelf solution can be found.
Aesthetics
Combining working mechanisms and sourced components with aesthetics is another essential part of our home appliance design process. Appliances that don’t look friendly or easy to use, may have a hard time attracting buyers. Hence, we strive to create appliance designs for our clients that are functional and attractive in equal measures. Our designers have knowledge of a wide range of manufacturing techniques and materials that can be utilized in the production process to create appliances that look great while also performing practical functions.
Validating your design
Prototyping and testing of any appliance design is a vital part of ManGo’s process. In most developments several prototypes are built after your concept design has been approved to be tested in various environments and ensure they are safe, i.e., doesn’t malfunction in high temperatures, overheating issues, etc. Involving users who best fit the target audience and gathering their feedback is a critical step to understand the ergonomic experience and utility. Tests which ManGo can arrange; the collected feedback will be used to improve your home appliance design even further before moving on to manufacturing.
OEM manufacturing
When your appliance or kitchenware design is ready for mass production, our design engineers work closely with manufacturers to ensure that production standards are met while also making sure that the appliance design remains affordable and reliable in the long run. Large home appliance brands may have their own factory but most often rely on third-party original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to produce their products. It is these OEM factories where anybody with sufficient budget to afford the tooling and minimum order quantities (MOQs) can go to get their appliance design made. ManGo Product Design has a large network of OEMs to whom we can introduce our clients or we can work with your preferred supplier.
